I tend, like many, to let life take me like a rip tide down my path. This Psalm reminds me to just stop, slow down and take a breath and remember to focus away from the rip tide, keep my cool and listen to what God is trying to tell me above the din of the roar of the tide. Listen...

This submission and its rip current comparison is so timely! Swimmers have dealt with a slew of rip currents this summer (2010). Lives have been lost simply because people panicked and tried to fight a power for over which they had no control. Like rip currents, life's situations can overcome us if we don't know what to do. We must calm ourselves so that we can look for and listen to God's still small voice telling us how to escape the danger surrounding us. Although remaining calm and trusting God can be difficult when the "sea" around us is raging, we must follow through.
